EV Insurance Guide exists to help electric vehicle owners make better insurance decisions. To do that we need to be — and be seen to be — independent, accurate and current. This page describes exactly how we work.
Our commitment to accuracy
Every figure in our articles comes from a verifiable source: a real insurance quote we obtained, a published policy document, an official regulator's data set, or a peer-reviewed industry report. We don't round numbers to make them more "interesting" and we don't quote ranges without naming our sample size.
How we research articles
- We pick a topic based on questions readers actually ask (search demand, our inbox, comments).
- We obtain real insurance quotes from at least 10 insurers using realistic profile data (age, postcode, vehicle, mileage).
- We read the relevant policy wording — not the marketing summary — for each insurer named.
- We check published regulator data (FCA in the UK, NAIC in the USA, APRA in Australia).
- We cite real entities, real publications and real prices.
Fact-checking and review
Every article passes through two reviews before publication: an editorial review (for clarity and structure) and a subject-matter review by a relevant licensed broker, regulator-experienced analyst or published insurance journalist. Their name and credentials appear in the article's "fact-checked by" badge where applicable.
Corrections policy
If we make a factual error, we want to know — and we fix it quickly. Email hello@evinsuranceguide.com and we'll review and update the article within 48 hours, with a visible "Correction:" note explaining what changed and when.
Independence from insurers
We do not accept payment from insurers in exchange for coverage, favourable mentions or rankings. Insurers do not see our articles before publication. Where we mention an insurer positively it is because their product genuinely earned that mention based on quote data, policy wording or claims-handling reputation.
Affiliate disclosure
Some links to comparison sites are affiliate links — we may earn a small commission if you click and complete a purchase. These are clearly marked inline as [Affiliate] and never influence rankings. You pay no extra for clicking them.
Update frequency
EV insurance pricing changes monthly. Every article shows a "Last updated" date, and our cost tables and rankings are refreshed at least every 30 days. Major regulatory changes trigger an immediate review of all affected articles.
Author credentials
Every article is bylined by a named author with disclosed credentials. Our authors are working journalists, licensed brokers or regulator-experienced analysts. You'll find each author's full bio on our About page.
